UMDF Research Grants

The Research Grant Program was begun in 1997 out of a desire to fund research toward diagnoses, treatments, and cures for mitochondrial disease. Since the program began, the UMDF has funded more than $2.7 million of research.

If you are a researcher interested in applying for a grant, please download the following documents. Please note that there are now two Letter of Intent forms. Select the form that best suits your project:

In 2005, the UMDF awarded more than $1 million in research grants. Awarded funds are disbursed over the one, two, or three year life of the grant. Proposals are considered during a one-year grant cycle. Please note the following dates:

• July 1, 2005: Grant cycle opens
• September 16, 2005: Letters Of Intent due
• February 17, 2006: Solicited proposals due
• July 1, 2006: Projects funded
